Introducing Live Detect with Conseal

In this post

Conseal has always protected the documents you've finished. Live Detect protects what you're writing right now. As you type or paste into an AI tool, it flags names, numbers, emails, and other identifiers, and hides them in one click, before anything is sent. It works in email, chat, and documents too, for the times you share details someone doesn't need. Like everything in Conseal, it runs entirely on your machine.

It's the feature you asked for most: a way to catch a client's name before it goes into an AI tool, not after.

Try it: edit the prompt, click the tag or press ⌃⌥N, then click any label to show it again

How Live Detect works

  1. Summarize Jane Doe’s dispute with ABCD LLC

Type as usualWrite wherever you normally write. Each time you pause, Live Detect checks the text box you're in and underlines anything sensitive.

Spot the tagA small Conseal tag in the corner of the box counts what it found. Open it to see every item and the label it will get.

  3. Summarize [PERSON_1]’s dispute with [ORG_1]

Live Detect

Everything Live Detect brings

Hide all of it, or just a part. The shortcut hides the whole box, or only the text you've selected. In the list, you can hide or show any single item.

You make the call. Mark an item as not sensitive and it stays as you wrote it. Select something Live Detect didn't flag, add it yourself, and choose its category.

One label per person, in every app. The same value keeps the same label across every app for your whole session, so a conversation still reads naturally, wherever it happens.

Works where you write. Your browser, including AI tools like ChatGPT and Claude, plus Microsoft Teams, Apple Mail, TextEdit, Pages, and Numbers. You choose the apps during setup and can change them anytime.

What can I help with?

Draft a reply declining this scope change: “Hi, we’d like to add a second warehouse site to the project before the March launch. Can you fold it into the current budget? — , VP Operations, ”

[PERSON_1] is Jane Doe in every app, for your whole session. Click any label to peek at the value behind it.

Get the real text back. When an AI tool or a colleague replies with labels in it, paste the reply into Restore text and the original values come back, ready to use.

Reply from your AI tool

Here’s a draft: Hi [PERSON_1], Thanks for the update on the second warehouse site. To protect the March launch for [ORG_1], we’d recommend scoping it as a separate phase with its own budget. Happy to send a short proposal this week.

Always within reach. The Conseal icon in your menu bar shows the same list for whatever box you're in, along with Pause for 1 hour, Turn off in this app, and Restore text.

Privacy

Private by design

Live Detect uses the same detection as Fast Mode, entirely on your machine. Nothing you type is uploaded, stored on a server, or seen by us.

Forget after
Also forget when the screen locks
Where it works
  • Google Chrome
  • Microsoft Teams
  • Mail
  • Pages
  • Numbers

Live Detect is on in 4 apps. What you typed is forgotten when you close the app you typed it in, or after 30 minutes unused. Everything stays on your machine.

  • Values are kept in memory only, never saved. They're forgotten when you close the app you typed them in, or after 15, 30, or 60 minutes unused. You can also have them forgotten whenever your screen locks, or clear them right away from Settings.
  • On any page with a password field, Live Detect steps back on its own. You can turn it on for that page whenever you want.
  • Turn it off for any app, or pause it for an hour, straight from the menu bar.
Speed

Faster scans

Protecting whole documents is faster too. Intelligent Mode now finishes up to 2.5 times sooner on dense documents like rosters, tables, and statements, and about 1.6 times sooner across a mixed set of contracts, court filings, tax returns, and medical records.

Fast Mode, faster. On Apple Silicon Macs, Fast Mode runs about 1.8 times faster.

Always in view. Progress moves steadily as each page is read, and longer scans show roughly how much time is left.

Improvements

Conseal 2.0 also refines everything around Live Detect. It understands more of your documents, including images, and recognizes names and identifiers more accurately. Reviewing what it found is quicker and clearer. Scans run smoothly from start to finish, Pause and Cancel respond right away, and even complex documents save cleanly. And when you need us, support is one click away, with your documents always kept out of anything you share.
